Just You and Me

As happy as I am to be a mom of three there are times when I think back to the simpler days when it was just one. Competing for attention with two babies can't be easy. Most days we get a bit of alone time to play board games or puzzles while Ryan and Natalie nap, but it's rare that we go out just the two of us. With some errands to run and Nana to watch the twins, Jake and I headed out to do the recycling and make a return at the mall. I was amazed at how well behaved he was once he was the only one getting the attention. So I decided to make one more stop...the "cookie store".

As we sat eating our cookies it struck me just how much he has grown this past year, when I've been too busy keeping everyone fed, clean and calm to slow down and pay attention. Who is this little man sitting across from me? How did he get so big?

He even offered me a piece of his cookie. That would never happen at home.

Next time - no errands, just fun, just Jake and me.

So sweet! J and I had a "date" at the mall the other night. She wanted to go into Yankee Candle and pick out new "smelly circles" (tarts) she picked stuff that I wouldn't have picked, but it was a $12 date. Not bad.

"Alone time" is so important for kids with siblings. My twins are crazy when they're together, but when we go out with them individually, they turn into nice little boys! They really respond well to the one-on-one attention.

Aw . . . that's so sweet! I have three kids, too, and I *love* taking them out, one at a time, for one-on-one attention. :-)

What a great idea. I love spending one-on-one time with my little guys. They grow up so fast!
